Healthy Longevity

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), between 2015 and 2050, the world's population over 60 years of age will nearly double, from 12% to 22%. At the same time, people are living longer, creating a myriad of challenges for society.

As a result, we are seeing a more evolved view of aging, and a growing role for digital health and wellness in our daily lives. The lines between work and retirement are blurring, and the number of younger adults available to care for older family members is dwindling, along with the number of healthcare providers.

Today, we have the unprecedented new opportunity in human history: to help people live longer, healthier lives. Combining personal connected health technologies with behavioral health and the advances in medical knowledge over the past century, we have the potential to minimize the impact of chronic disease, obesity, cancer or any condition whose contributing factors include human behavior.

PCHAlliance is undertaking an important new initiative -- the Healthy Longevity Initiative -- to reframe how individuals approach aging, by leveraging the technological and social power of “connectedness” to promote healthy longevity.

As part of the Healthy Longevity Initiative, PCHAlliance has officially abandoned the term 'aging' to focus on staying healthy at every age -- and how connected health strategies will help us all to live healthier, longer. We believe this is an important re-framing of the opportunities to maintain good health across our lifespan.

PCHAlliance will be three key projects that will be critical to this aging revolution -- to create healthy longevity. Specifically, PCHAlliance will be focused on developing a roadmap to healthy longevity; creating strategies to connect the science of healthy longevity to personal connected health solutions in order to design personalized tools for our aging population; and showcase solutions that take healthy longevity from abstract to reality.

This will take a collaborative, dedicated effort.
